Windows 7 vs 8.1 on gaming performance

I was wondering what windows shall I get,as slong as win10 doesn't have drivers well optimized for my pc,which performs better at games win 8.1 or 7 , now as the time passed from while 8.1 was released , I need best one for a decent game named continent of nith (c9) , my system has some duo quad (quad 2.83ghz) ,4gb ddr2 ram,250 hdd,r7 240 oc. Playing on 1280x1048
before win 10 upgrade I had 60 fps on high with no lag, I can check them both but I don't have the time that's why I am asking.

I've been using Windows 8.1 since its launch and all my games work flawlessly. As for performance, only select games like Battlefield 4 have showed little boosts in performance, as claimed by many users.
