Hi. I'm getting random BSODs on my Windows 10 Pro. I have a custom built PC, ran Memtest got no problems, changed my graphics card etc. and I still get the errors. It happens when I use Chrome, sometimes when i power off the system, before i sign in or just after signing in. It happens also when i do nothing and my pc is just idling.
Here are some of the last minidumps:
http://1drv.ms/1l4seIU

Any suggestion is welcome!
Thanks

Hi,

Please do try these steps that may help in resolving the issue.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the graphics driver.
- Open Programs and Features and uninstall anything related to your graphics card.
- Download and install the latest driver there is from the manufacturer site.
NVIDIA: nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
- Reboot your PC for all the changes to take effect.

Hi. I tried that, I have ati r9 270x. Tried the latest drivers, even betas and nothing changed. Had bsods with different cards, so it can't be that. Even did a clean install of Windows.

hi. I formatted both hard drives before installation of Windows because I had the same problems on Windows 8. I have AVG Internet security installed and found no virus, also ran windows defender and no viruses. Even tried swapping hard drives, i would install windows on one drive and leave the other one disconnected and vice-versa, and still getting bsods.

New OS same problem indicates hardware despite to the contrary. Next I would suspect memory... XMP profile set for DRAM in bios?

Note: Having 2 anti-virus programs isn't a good idea. They fight over the same resources... disable one or the other. I believe Bitdefender offers a free 6 month trial for internet security and I find it to be good. AVG IMO is meh...

I didn't want you to install them, I wanted to know if you had them installed - my fault for not being precise so apologies for that.

GPU monitoring software has been causing crashes for some people using recent NVIDIA Display Drivers due to a bug in the drivers themselves.

Besides. I just realised that I am an idiot and you have an AMD GPU not NVIDIA.

Did you try uninstalling both pieces of Anti-Virus software?

When you did your Driver re-install, did you use something like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) or just the normal Control Panel method?

Check 2d idle clock rates for the R9 270... does the memory drop to 150MHz? If so, that's low. I have a similar system (all AMD) with the 7870GHz (same as the R9 270) and idle 2d clocks drop really low. In fact, my daughter plays Sonic Dash and Crossy Road from the windows store and both games artifact like there's no tomorrow but as soon I either run an extended display and/or run a benchmark (both force 3d clocks) and artifacts disappear. Playing Candy Crush is a no go and causes BSOD every time...

My belief is that it's a bug in AMD drivers for the Pitcairn GPU (7870/R9 270) and allowing the 2d clocks to drop too low.

My 7870 is locked and am unable to force higher 2d clocks but I suggest you use Afterburner and set up a profile and force 2d clocks at say 500/900MHz and see if the issues go away...

Mine (actually the families) with crappy AMD drivers 15.7.1 AND newest beta, You can see I initiated a crash to configure a complete memory dump for detailed analysis to try and get to the bottom of it. Most of these were located in the Watchdog folder... I had many more recent ones but deleted them because they were taking up so much space...

At this point I don't care, I'll soon remove the 7870, take it outside and take a bat to it.

Hey there, BSOD's might not be a case of virus always, mine was BSODing while the pc was dusty,

Try to remove the RAM, clean them up, clean the inputs and put them back in, also get your whole PC air blown with some kind of hairdrier or compressed air, (go it to some local gas station or something)

So apart from software stuff try cleaning it up

Hope it helped!

hi. Yes, i heard that this could be an issue, but after installing Afterburner i can only change Power limit, core clock, memory clock and fan speed. So at the low end it's still 150mhz. Do you know how to increase it?
Also here are 6 new minidumps :)

Thanks!

In Afterburner there is a profile section. I'd suggest to start there on modifying 2d clock rates. If that's not doable (like in my case) you could possibly use RadeonPro.

Alternatively you could try RBE and ATIWinFlash if you are confident.

There are plenty of guides via Google.

I'd also suggest getting a cheap card (GT210) to test with and confirm it's the R9 270 and Windows 10 Radeon drivers...

Good luck!
