Win10 Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put after Upgrading Monitor

Strange issue after upgrading to a Dell P2715Q: like title says, desktop icons won't stay put after a restart. Unchecked auto arrange and tried other typically recommended fixes but problem persists. Strange part is that when I hook my old LED monitor (an AOC 2436) the icons are where I put them. So all I can figure is it has something to do with the 3840 x 2160 pixel setting on the Dell vs. the 1920x1080 on the AOC, but can't find a setting to correct the problem. Any ideas? I'm on Win10 64 bit.

Hi,

Someone suggested that it could be a possible infection but it's worth to try and run a complete virus/malware cleanup tool. I would suggest the remove the check on Auto Arrange Icons but you've already tried that.

Thanks; I did run a malware scan just in case and nothing showed up. Since its only with the new monitor, I didn't suspect malware would be at the root of the problem. I am guessing this is just one of those things that results from a setting that I missed, and that will be obvious once someone points it out.
