I don't know what it is, what it does, and that scares me. My router restarted (I'm not sure if that was a software update or whatever). I usually get this problem where I have to restart my computer to get the networking hardware to work again (Windows 10 issue, gotta deal with it). I was playing a game and then when I opened up task manager I saw this 0.0. This is obviously not Microsoft, but I want to know what it is, and if it's a malicious software how did it get past Kaspersky Total Security. I update every day, and have NOT downloaded anything random. Thanks for reading, and please help. I don't know what to do.

If i were you, i would download MalwareBytes and maybe an antivirus software like AVG.

MalwareBytes - https://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/

AVG - http://free.avg.com/au-en/free-downloads

Here is an article about CTF Host. http://www.freefixer.com/library/file/ctfhost.exe-210152/ But personally i think that this program is a virus, because of its location, date created and incorrect punctuation of name.

I will try those antiviruses out. Turns out this is a bitcoin mining thing, so it's pretty much a virus that takes your hardware and uses it for the creator's advantage... It's not dangerous, but it's definitely malicious and pretty disappointing that Kaspersky didn't detect it. More worried about how I got it in the first place.

Yeah definitely remove it. I also suggest installing an active protection antivirus software, (AVG is my personal favorite as it is free and does a good job.) I also recommend scanning every single file you download, (except for things from trusted companies.)

Me and a friend updated windows on latest version and got this virus, I don't know how it's possible but never had any problems before that. Also this ctfhost.exe has a folder ethash in C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local which has a few GB, delete it aswell.
