144hz monitor upgrade?

So the holiday season is coming around. I'm considering making my holiday upgrade a 144hz monitor.

So here's my current rig:

Would this rig even be able to put out the new titles at 144? Or would it be a waste? I currently am playing fallout at a steady 60fps on ultra settings.

Depends on the game. I dont think your going to be pushing 144fps at ultra settings in many modern games but you should get over 60fps in a lot of them even more if you turn down the settings a bit. In my opinion its worth it.

So really i'll see a difference even if i pull only 90fps? I don't need to reach the full 144?

i'm also considering selling my ps4 and current gpu and getting a 980ti. That may be able to push out 144

I would, I dont know about you everybody's eyes are different. I feel a difference just having a higher refresh rate panel even if games are not necessarily running at over 60fps, my friend has a 144hz panel and the difference is night and day for me compared to my 60hz panel but that could just be down to response times and overall panel quality as i have a cheap crappy 60hz acer panel.

Yes a 980 ti could most definitely take full advantage of a 144hz 1080p monitor.
