I know there have been a lot of topics about this subject but I am still unsure. (I live in the UK)

I currently have a 60hz 1080p standard monitor. I have a decent build with a 780ti powering it so I do get decent fps on most games maxed.

My question is, should I get a 1440p 60hz monitor, had this one in mind:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GW2765HT-LED--inch-Monitor/dp/B00M913DVG/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1447752043&sr=1-6&keywords=g+sync

or should I get a 144hz 1080p monitor, something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-GN246HLBbid-24-inch-Monitor/dp/B00IG0Z0HY/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1447758306&sr=1-1&keywords=144hz+monitor+1ms

My budget is between 200-300 GBP

Thanks guys!

With a 780 Ti i doubt he achieves anything less than 90 fps

Just to answer your question, I get 300+ on league of legends, and varying from 80 on more taxing games to around 200 on some of the others.

Perfect answer, thanks mate. I will more than likely get the 1440p @ 60hz option. Thank you for your help guys.

Controversial statement, all depends on the game, AA, and overall settings. At 1080p with maximum settings there is a handful of games now that won't achieve more then 90. Majority of games now he should easily be punching above 90FPS, but you need to always check with the OP, rather then just make assumptions. However, all systems behave different and for all we know he could have an FX 4300 processor -> which I can hopefully assume you don't :p

I also prefer 1440p for gaming and that, and you also can notice the difference in pixel density. Won't disappoint and enjoy!

Cheers mate.

Can confirm I do not have an FX4300 ;) haha. Sorry I should have given the full build but I have a 4770k. Thanks for the help.

Well it would be pretty stupid to build a rig with the last gen top graphics card and one of the lowest tier CPUs. However if they were happy gaming at 60Hz on 1080p. I don't think they will mind that their theoretical fps dropped when they can't even see the extra frames being displayed. :)
