Hard drive always showing 100% usage Win10

Not sure if this is the right category but ill give it a shot.
I have a Lenovo y580 and recently its been very slow at loading things. (Slow boot, slow game loading screens, pauses mid game for data to load.) It just seems like the HD is always being overloaded. It has a 5200RPM 1tb drive and i have downloaded several tool to test its health and they all read that the drive is good and healthy. Therefore it leads me to believe its a software issue. In the task manager (ctrl-alt-del) it show the hard drive usage at 100% even idling on the desktop. What could be causing this? I don't have that much running in the background.

I would personally suspect heat as being part of the problem here - how old is the laptop? Have you checked the temperatures with a program like SpeedFan or CoreTemp or...?

Hi there marcus8h,

I would also say that measuring the temps may be a good idea.
Apart from that, you can disable several Windows services like: Superfetch, Windows Search, BITS.

Hey so nope i dont believe heat is an issue here. The laptop is about 3yrs old now and reads about 35 celcius on idle. This doesnt seem dangerously hot for a laptop to me.
