This is my first time building a computer.

So I am currently trying to come up with a good gaming build to run games like Dota 2, Ark, Fallout 4, etc... at steady 60 fps and above (around high to ultra settings).

I would also like to stick to the red and black theme.

My budget is about $1000 give or take. I'm open to all suggestions

Should do the trick adequately. The core parts are what most go with in that price range, and work well.

Honestly though, you can probably find better prices on some things. I've seen 970s ranging from $278-$285, and not reference cooled ones.

You have a pretty decent build sir.. tho i would recommend changing the psu from evga bronze to something like an xfx...

the bronze is not haswell ready according to techpowerup reviews https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/600B/11.html

altho the codname to the i5 4690k is not haswell they are almost identical in quality..

this powersupply will work perfect with your build http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Single-Modular-Certified-P1750BBEFX/dp/B00B88Z314/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1447802579&sr=8-2&keywords=xfx+power+supply

Alternative to your pick. Cheaper and more performance for gaming. Still kept in red and black.
