Need help :D 1440p Freesync vs 1080p 144hz

Hey so looking to by a new monitor and I don't really know what I should go with!
System i5 6600k @4.4ghz and a sapphire r9 290 @ 1125mhz

So I have some questions;
is 1440p over 1080p worth it?
at 1440p on my system I probably will be around the 50~60fps area (on ultra) so is freesync worth it?
at 1080p I can play most games (like bf4) at 100fps so will the 144hz look super nice?

So main question; 1440p freesync at around 60fps or 1080p at around 100fps with 144hz

Since you most likely can get the 55-65 stable FPS in bf4 (and if you don't plan on going for way tougher games), then the 1440p will definitely feel nicer. However for maximum performance you would always prefer the 144hz with 100-120 fps. So question is, do you want the game to look better or do you want to play better.
