Hi, I'm looking for a gaming monitor to best complement my Nvidia MSI GTX 970 Graphics Card. Looking to spend up to $200-500 USD. And Should I wait til black friday or cyber monday to make this purchase? Thanks

The "best" screen in that price range is definitely going to depend on what you want. You could get a decent 4k gaming monitor in that price range (link included) but 4k with that card will see a lot of frame drops vs 1080p or 1440p. If you really don't know what you want then you just need to look at what people typically decide on when buying a monitor

1. Size (there are monitors about 50", but I honestly don't enjoy anything bigger than 27-28 because I have to be so far away from the screen)

2. Resolution (you know, 1080p, 1440p, 4k)

3. Response (1-2ms works great for pretty much anyone who isn't an MLG, but some people would disagree)

4. Refresh Rate (at your price range anything less than 60 Hz is NOT a good buy)...

My personal opinion is a ultra-wide display (Just can't stand those gaps with triple monitor setups). A good ultra wide for you:

This has a 5ms repsonse time, but unless you are doing some hardcore CS:GO sh*t, its really not noticable. I will say though, not many games support this screen ratio (21:9), but you can get semi-close to actual full screen.

If those just aren't for you, I'd suggest a good 24" Heres one:

A much faster response time, but smaller. If possible I'd suggest picking up 3 of these bad boys for a great experience, (just mind the gaps :p). If you're looking for a 4k monitor, I'm just not your guy. Good luck and happy gaming! :D

I find it funny how many people play CS GO Including myself. I'm also looking to play The New Star wars battlefront game and Fallout 4 and SC2 and FFXIV on my PC. Def a screen no bigger than 27". Thank you for the reply I greatly appreciate it!

I do prefer faster response times, especially in CS GO, sometimes it doesn't come down to the skill someone has but their response time to see the action actually happening. I didn't even know this was a thing. Thanks!

I have a LG (think its LED) 1080p monitor which was about £90 2 years ago and is still going strong.

You don't need to buy a monitor that's like £300 really. Just get a £100 monitor, look for stores selling their last seasons 1080p monitors.
I got mine on offer, never buy high end stuff like monitors at full price, always try and get an offer.
