Why do i have green dots all over my screen

I have an Acer laptop. I turned it on today, everything was fine, then all of sudden little green dots popped up everywhere. And when I watch netflix or try to play games, everything that should be black is neon green. Any ideas why or how to fix it?

Sounds like the video cable plugged into the back of the screen on your laptop has come lose, seen it happen to a Toshiba I replaced the screen on. Have you dropped your laptop recently?

Edit: It could also be a software issue maybe to.

Everything is plugged in. I haven't dropped it recently. It actually sat for 2 days before i turned it on and this happened. It has happened before in august after a road trip. I figured the bumps in the road caused the problem even though it was in the case. Then a few days later my screen was normal again. I ran dxdiag to see if everything is working properly and it said it was. Im going to hook up a vga to my other monitor for now.
