Hey everybody,
I am thinking of buying a new graphics card soon as my Geforce 9800 GT is getting a bit old. I did some research and came across the ATI Readeon HD 5970 (~£80 eBay). I am aware that it is quite an old card, but the specs are still impressive. I am not quite sure how it compares to newer cards though. The alternative to the radeon would be a Geforce 750 Ti (~£100).

So,
1. Is the radeon any good still?
2. How do you think it would compare with the Nvidia card?

Any input?

PS: I have no preference when it comes to AMD(ATI) vs Nvidia

Thank you very much

5970 would trade blows with a 750 Ti relatively, while being hotter running and consuming more power. Also not having nearly as many newer features and compatibility.

It was also announced like yesterday that driver support for the 5xxx/6xxx series will end. So it's legacy tech now. I'd go new. Less headache

I would go for the 750 ti (or really the 950 if budget can stretch). Similar performance, but modern driver support (AMD have cancelled any new drivers for pre CGN chips), much lower power and therfore heat, and also less noise.
