Ok guys; here's my problem: i want to buy a really GOOD Kicka** Graphics card but i'm getting too much options thrown at me. I program a lot but i'm not really up to date in the technical side of computers.

I play games about 2 to 3 times a week and i'm looking to get a card thats ahead of the curve so it'll still be good in 2 years. Money is no problem but id like to still keep it in the $400 to 500 range.

I think there are avid gamers in here that could really help me choosing the right gaming graphics card so wich is it guys?

Is there a consensus as to what i should buy??

This is how i'm set up right now:
---------------------------------

CPU - Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.50GHz Socket 1150
RAM - 32.0 Go DDR3 @ 1600 MHz
MOBO- Asus Model - Z97- A-USB31 (SOCKET 1150)
PSU - Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 1000 Watts 80 Plus Silver
GPU -Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Vapor-X Tri-X OC 3GB

I thank you for that link lodders but here's what i meant when i said that i was getting way too many options thrown at me. I have consulted a lot of such lists in the last two weeks.

People i know would also send me their preffered website wich also had lists that varied greatly depending on wich company had advertised on that website i guess... i mean there wasnt much of a consensus.

What i need to know is how the people who actually USE a graphics card on a daily basis consider what's the best but based on their personal experience that is backed by like minded people.
I'm looking for a "hands on" regular user's view i guess.

But i thank you a lot lodders. Maybe my question was a bit imprecise as i'm a French Canadian and my sentence structure might be a bit off because of the language. My bad. :)

As far as bang for the buck goes in that price range, I would suggest something like the gtx 970. It'll give you great performance without a doubt.

Thanks; the gtx 970 was my first choice yes, but i'm asking to see if i'm not missing out on some other not well known card.

Not to many others out there for that performance at that price, the only other one I can think of would be the r9 390

If I were buying a GPU today, it'd be the 8GB 290X. I own 970s, and they perform great when overclocked, but the 290X one v one still puts them to shame. They can be had for about the same price point. I wouldn't even consider the 390 though....I haven't seen a 390 yet that could keep up with my 970.

I agree, the r9 290x is definetly the winner of the three... But the prices here in Canada are much more different than elsewhere. The 290x reaches about 600$ here where as the gtx 970 is around 400$.

Honestly, given that you already have an R9 280X, you're not going to get a large upgrade unless you spend enough for a Fury/FuryX/980TI

and that's all out of your budget.

consider waiting until mid 2016 for the new GPU lineups from both companies

I was considering the R9 290 but i read in a lot of places that nVidia drivers are better and kept up to date in a better way. But i think waiting for a new lineup in graphics cards does seem to be a valid point... My 280x has problems with Star Wars Battlefront so i'm a bit on edge about a 290x.
