What video card supports 4K and plays 1080p games smoothly?

Hi,

I have a GTX 560 Ti. I read that it can't output 4K regardless of processing power.
I'll be buying a 4K TV tomorrow and will use it for movies and web browsing, and will use my 1200p Dell monitor for gaming.

What GPU will do this well? I'm cheap so please don't suggest a GTX 970.

If it wasn't clear, I am not going to be gaming at 4K, but at 1200p.

Thanks.

The R9 380 costs $270 where I live. Way out of budget, even though I was thinking of buying used. But then I discovered that my recently upgraded CPU has an HD4600 builtin, and I read that the HD4600 outputs 4K. Is it true? This might negate the need for a new GPU for as long as my 560 Ti gets the job done.

i don't think that would work, as when you have a discrete card installed, the iGPU gets disabled. I'm going to guess your budget is $200 or less (USD?), so maybe an R7 370 or GTX 950 would do? or maybe a GTX 750 Ti.

These are all out of budget. I'll wait for used prices of the GTX 960 to drop significantly.
I think it's possible to re-enable onboard graphics after it's automatically turned off when a discreet GPU is installed. I can't have both drivers running though, so I'll have to switch between them and restart the computer when I change from one display to the other.

I hope that entry level HDMI 2.0 GPUs will be available soon.

Then again, I'll be losing most gaming capabilities.

I decided to buy a used GTX 680 or R9 280X. Both have DisplayPort 1.2 which can output 4K @ 60hz, and a DisplayPort adapter is coming soon from Club 3D. It's not like I can game at 60 fps on 4K res with these cards anyway...
