Access is Denied on internal hard drive

Hi there,

I started getting this message last night. Every single hard drive in my pc, except the local one, refuses to allow me to open it showing a message of: " Access is Denied " !

I tried to change the security permissions but yet it doesn't work. Also, I tried to recover the system and I lost many files but the problem still !!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you used encryption, the certificate may have been damaged, but virus damage is also likely.

You need to first take ownership of the drive and grant permissions afterwards. Just follow this extensive tutorial out: http://www.preyerplanning.com/take-ownership-of-entire-hard-drive-in-windows-7.pdf

In case the issue persists, you can boot up Ubuntu, back up the data and reformat the drive afterwards: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode

Scanning for viruses/malware will not hurt as well.
