Dooes running 1440p (2560x1440) resolution on a 4K monitor make games look worse than a native 1440p monitor?

I just bought a 27-inch 4k FreeSync monitor (LG MU67) and I simply can't take the huge performance hit running games at that resolution (even with a R9 Fury X). I'm wondering if I run games at 1440p, will they still look just as good as a native 1440p monitor?

I bought the acer xb271hk. I confirm qhd looks very fine. The huge dpi hides scaling issues.
