Hi, my build currently is the mobo and cpu above, as well as a sapphire 280x vapor x, and 8 (2x4) gb of ram. I initially bought the mobo for a budget orientated build to match my color scheme of black and blue.Is it ok to run all my stuff on this mobo and then upgrade later on to a better mobo? If so, what mobo should i get for the 80-100 ish dollar price (preferably black and blue) Thanks

You can but you MAY have to reinstall windows and you WILL have to call up Microsoft to reactive your copy of windows. It is better to get a good motherboard now and then build up around that.

it is still a 970 chipset so there isn't much of a difference at all. It will be more money but your really want to look at a 990 chipset board like the ASUS M5A99FX board.

BUT when it comes down to it do you plan on over clocking your CPU? If you plan on doing over clocking you will want the 990fx boards and not the 970. they have better power for OCing. otherwise a 970 board may just be fine for now and the future if you don't plan on overclocking.

Yes I plan on overclocking with a hyper 212 evo. Hopefully to 4.1ghz or higher. I would get the board immediately but I don't have any money right now. If it's only temporarily, is it possible to rin Linux since it's free? And then use my windows key from microsoftsoftwareswap?

hah, i have the board i mentioned (970 chipset) and i got my 8320 stable at 4,2 now. i had it stable at 4,4, but i don't need it that high, and with a little less voltage it doesn't get as hot :p
and my cooler is the 212 evo

What board do you have? The one he posted only looks like maybe a 4 + 1 phase power for the CPU where as most of the 990 are at least 8+2 allowing for better more stable over clocks with less damage to the CPU and less stress on the Motherboard. What board do you have?

And yea linux is free so you can do that.

So let's get this planned out,
1.get Linux because it's free and run for a month
2.save up the $$ for Asus m5a99fx mobo.
3.replace mobo and install in windows

By the way, what is needed to be done for this motherboard swap, do I have to Uninstall drivers or clean off my storage devices? (Ssd for boot and hdd) or anything of that sort?

the m5a97 evo r2.0 has 6+2, still not as good as 8+2, but a lot better than 4+1

Touche lol
