Can't get third monitor to work

I have had dual monitors and set that up no problem. I just added a third with the VGA J5Create adapter and while it displays it does not allow me access the monitor. I am not very computer/tech savvy so I have not been able to figure out why I can't access it. I am running Windows 7 on a Gateway Mode ZX6971. Do I need a different or another adapter for the third monitor?
