Ok so i just recently purchased this XB270HU monitor from amazon. I read reviews and stuff but i was hoping to get lucky with the monitor and avoid the backlight bleeding issue. It seems like i was hit with the problem though but I am wondering if this is a really bad case or not worth sending back. I am attaching images that i took in a dark room with the monitor at 100% brightness.

All IPS displays have backlight bleed, even high end TV's do that use this panel type. On my TV, I have flashlights in all 4 corners of the screen. If it's really that bad for you, unless it's the camera overexatterating it, then RMA if you're not satisfied, that's the whole point. If you don't like obvious bleed or flashlights, then I would consider buying a VA display instead. No fancy features, though currently one of the best: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014371

If you want a higher refresh rate (no fancy features): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G1S87530&cm_re=FG2421-_-24-136-126-_-Product

Bottomline, you can't get away from obvious defects on IPS panels. Even cheaper lower end...

Bottomline, you can't get away from obvious defects on IPS panels. Even cheaper lower end TN panels don't have this problem, though I would definitely get my hands on a VA, if you want black -> black and not black -> blue.
