First off, thanks for looking at this post all :)

So for about 4 years or so I've been using a PC that isn't that great but always got the job done. Since I never really played many games that require insane hardware I never thought of upgrading. Fast forward 4 years (or i can add more filler if you'd prefer :p) and i'm downloading games like Grand Theft Auto V or Mortal Kombat X or ARK: Survival Evolved, and i'm running them at less than 5 FPS. Hell I can barely run modded Minecraft at 15. So now we reach today, where i'm sick of it and need a better PC to catch up with the requirements for at the very least 30 FPS and that wont be obsolete in the next 4 years.

So without further ado, the planned build (for now)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
CPU: Intel Core i5-4590

Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 5

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 960

HDD/SSD: WD Black 2TB/Samsung 850 EVO 250GB

PSU: EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR 80 PLUS GOLD 750 W

Case: Undetermined (Red/Black)

Fan/Heatsink: Undetermined
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Gimme dem sweet hardware recommendations :D

I'm willing to spend up to:
$250 on the GPU and CPU
$170 on the Mobo
$130 on just about everything else

If i missed anything please let me know

Thanks for your time and help guys :)

A GTX 960 will work as a GPU just fine. A tip would be to SLI that GTX 960 in the future for more performance when you start to need it.
An Intel i5 4690K is commonly used in gaming builds, and will work great for a CPU under $250.
For the motherboard, you should be fine.
For RAM, you don't NEED 16GB, as 8GB will work, only get 16GB if you are going to be video editing, rendering, etc.

PC build which I tried to fit to your budget: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cVbC7P
(Change it how you like, this build is just a basis on what to build off of)
