Can't screw stand/base of new monitor?

I just got a new monitor today so i can have dual monitors, one to use as a regular pc monitor and one to play PS4 on. I plugged in the dvi cable and power cable, but now as i try to attach the stand/base of the monitor, there is this screw with a handle. I grab the handle and twist it the right way but it doesn't lock, iv'e been trying for the past 30 minutes can someone pls help?
Monitor= ASUS VE247H 23.6" Widescreen LED, 1920x1080, 2ms(GtG), 10M:1 (ASCR)

I would guess that the the threads may be stripped? I would contact Asus customer support. Or you can return the monitor if it is new.
