What would you call this position?

I'm applying for my first real job and I need a spot of help describing my previous work experience. I worked at my father's automotive shop, helping out with whatever was needed so that everyone else could focus on the bigger jobs. I assisted with repairs where needed but mostly cleaned and maintained the place. What is a professional sounding name for such a position?

I would call it mechanic. You did mechanic work, even if some.

That's the issue here. I'd like to say mechanic but that is a small enough a fraction of my work that it'd almost be lying. If nothing else comes up I'll use that though.

Work it out with your Dad. He will probably be called as a reference and he may need to establish a "title/position" for your replacement. Especially if advertising goes out.

However, I think k1114's suggestion is a great choice if you get the option.

It would be called GS - (general service) - Well most places calls it that.
