Hello all and Merry Christmas, hope this makes sense. I am buying a new graphics card but my Mobo is a PCI-e2, I know I can run a PCI-e3 card in the slot but my question is, will games benefit from a new PCI-e3 graphics card in the PCI-e2 slot. The card I am looking at is running 2 GB of GDDR5 ram.

Cheers

Ok thanks for the answer, so really you need a mobo with a PCI-e3 slot then. Ah well start saving.

No it can be a PCie1 2 or 3 slot. Everything pretty much works the same.

Ok, but if I want to notice a difference in gaming I would need a mobo with a PCI-e3 slot with to use my new graphics card, because if I put the new card in the PCI-e2 slot it won't make much difference to my game graphics.

if you want to notice a difference in gaming you get a stronger card or a better cpu

the slot itself, wont make much of a difference 2.0 x16 is good enough for any card
