Will the amd a10-5800k support 2560x1440?

I was wondering if the amd a10-5800k supports 2560x1440?

I will not be gaming, I do not want to overclock, and my mobo has displayport. My objective is 2560x1440 @ 60hz, NOT 30!

I will have a decent water cooler to keep temps down, and it's a mini itx build. Mostly HTPC stuff like browsing and movies.

So will I be able to run at that resolution without frying my chip for daily use and no gaming? or do I need a discrete gpu? This is just to compare my needs and prices vs. what I actually want and already have planned to build, but in my research I came across this little powerhouse of a chip for only $90... so I figured I would ask. I also saw a couple answers that dvi-d will support 2560x1440 @60hz. Is that true?

Solution
The chip supports those resolutions , it depends on the board what it will actually output.

IMO though you're overspending hugely for your needs mate.
You would be better served with a kaveri apu , they're more efficient & even the 65w 7600 has a more powerful GPU core than the 5800k.

This is more cost effective

well I have 2 possible builds I am looking at, both with room for possible but not likely upgrades to either a 390 for amd, or a 970 for intel. The price difference is not a huge issue, and that's why I am leaning towards the newer skylake chipset. The only reason I even thought about that amd chip was from comparing chips on CPU boss... which has lead me to believe that the 4 year old chip only has such a rating because of its price. Everything else amd seems obsolete or a total waste compared to price for performance with intel, or even the ability to reuse parts... just my humble opinion of course. But I know the intel chips will run that resolution without discrete graphics. And that is truly all I need, the resolution. I would hate to buy the a10 and have it be pushing the limit just browsing facebook at 1440... seems like a total waste for what I do.

anyways,
here are the rigs that fit my budget with room for upgrading:

the skylake build:

would the A8 support a possible 390x if I did decide to use it for gaming? I am in love with that gpu and dont mind shelling out the bucks for its performance. (plus it would be months after build completion)

also, would the dvi-d on your mobo run at 2560x1440? 60 or 30hz?

would it be too much stress on the cpu for multiple monitors? one at 1080.

See you've updated with a 7850k now??

Been looking& on most boards 1440p+ 60htz is limited to the kaveri chips only.

That msi boards a good choice with excellent video outputs & mtiple res/htz options., I'm not sure of the gigabyte I listed , a board with a dp port is 100% the best option.

Any of the kaveri apu's will manage 1440p @ 60htz for general use with no problems in conjunction with another screen at 1080p.

Would I buy an apu with direct plans to use a 390x in the future ? No not really mate, you won't get the most from that GPU.
You'd be better served with Intel , be it a skylake i3 or haswell i5.

Regarding the a8-7*** apu's - I wouldn't pay extra for the 7850k personally.

The 7650k is essentially the same core CPU with a lowered base clock & voltage - the difference is the cut down GPU cores.
it'll overclock to at least 7850k speeds with no effort at all.
