How do I output the audio from my monitor to external speakers?

I have a 27 inch monitor with build in sound, Bose desktop speakers, and an Xbox One. I have my Xbox One connected to my monitor (through HDMI) and the audio outputs through the monitor's built in audio. How can I output it through my Bose speakers? I tried connecting the speakers to the audio mini jack on the monitor but it doesn't come through my speakers, only outputs through the monitor.

Check your audio input/outputs for a line input (blue). You may be able to use that to connect your Xbox. But I doubt that there is an audio output from your monitor.

Hey,
Usually the headphone jack on any device simply mutes the sound to the speakers.

Did you try attaching the same cable to a different audio source?

*PROBLEM SOLVED*

The Asus site says that 3.5 mini-jack is an INPUT not an output. I guess it's for using the monitor speakers with an iPod or something.

So you'll need a DAC with HDMI input or speakers with SPDIF.
