Windows 10 will no longer launch in AHCI because SSD SATA ports are not detected.

Despite working normally after the upgrade and launching in AHCI mode, Windows 10 suddenly stopped working correctly because the SATA ports are not recognized. I get a black screen saying reboot and select proper boot device. To make it work, I have to restart and change to IDE in BIOS, restart again and then change it back to AHCI in BIOS. Only then it launches normally. Any idea [watch the tone and language] is going on?

Can you please pass on your full systems specs? The issue, when dealing with BIOS', would relate to the system either not having support for the OS via a BIOS update or that a couple of device drivers may be causing conflict.

If the issue came around after a mandatory Windows update then go to a point prior to the update via the system restore route and lastly you can try a repair install.
