Going to fully wipe Windows 10 and put Windows 8 back on. Will it be licenced still?

Hello. I had problems getting to windows 10, so I did a fresh install of windows 8 from my recovery CD. The cd has the Windows 8.1 licence code on it and I got into it fine. I then selected "Upgrade and keep nothing" but now I want to go back to Windows 8.

Will the recovery CD with my old VALID licence still work? Or has Microsoft deleted it? I cannot select the option "Go back to Windows 8.1" Either...

If there are no significant hardware changes, the old key should work fine. but better be safe than sorry communicate with them via email.
