red dots over screen

So I didn't have this problem before I upgraded my GPU, but it didn't happen as soon as I upgraded either. I have an Asus 750 Ti. Sometimes red dots appear on black parts of my screen. I think it only appears on the black parts because those are the only parts that I'm able to notice it. The 750 Ti isn't old at all, maybe 2 or 3 months. The monitor, on the other hand, is probably 6 years plus. The drivers are updated and it isn't overheating. Basically my question is: What component is wrong and why?

I would suggest a memory error on the GPU. try underclocking the memory slightly to see if it improves, if it does then RMA it.

Could it have anything at all to do with my system RAM? I have had problems with that in the past.

highly unlikley, that will cause windows to crash rather than visual issues.

Yeah I thought so. I reduced the memory frequency by about 150Hz and I think it is working better. Only time will tell though. Thanks for the help.

Now you RMA it and get a working one. It should work without underclocking. Take screen shots.
