Hello! I've been toodling about forums and such to determine if what I have done here is worthwhile or if it's frustrating my computer's potential somehow. I notice questions of this sort get asked a bunch, but I couldn't quite find the information I was looking for.
Basically, I have a new Dell PC here. It came with an OEM NVIDIA Ge Force GTX745 with 4gb of video ram, or whatever. Also, it has integrated graphics.
I also picked up a 4k monitor. I was unhappy with the resulting sync rate on the 4k using the 745, so I upgraded to a GTX 960 4gb of some kind.
It's much nicer. I could tell immediately by how much more of it there was.
For kicks, I stuck the 745 in the second slot thinking I would use it to run an additional monitor and spare the 960 a little work, because it really looked like it might just get pissed off if I demanded too much of it. I plugged a 1080 monitor into the 745 and then, for kicks, another 1080 into the integrated graphics output, because I thought it might feel left out.
And, bless my soul, it worked.
I did not expect it to, to be honest.
My question is, is this a good thing I have done, or a bad thing?
I read somewhere that I may be limiting the potential of the 960 by using other cards on the system. I may have imagined this though.
So, uh, thoughts?
