very small display with mediocre reviews.
what GPU are you using to push this display?

first i just have to put out there; i would never go below 27" for gaming, i would be looking beyond 1080p these days, i wouldn't go for anything below 120Hz...
...but my price range for displays is >$400.

this is a good lineup more akin to the VC239H, but better, at <$200 to choose through at Newegg:

No offense the other guy, but he is completely wrong (not wrong on refresh rate though). I have the same exact monitor for both my main build and secondary build. For the price, it's the best you can get. It's has an IPS panel so it has very good viewing angles. It's a decent size, not too big, not too small. It can also be mounted on a monitor arm. I have had one for 2 years and 1 for 6 months (different PC's) and I have had zero problems. Not even one dead pixel. Based on your budget, I am guessing your rig might not be able to, or if it can not keep atleast 60 FPS in 1440p. So this 1080p monitor is probably suitable for you. Even though it's only 60 Hz, based on your budget you don't need a 120 or 144 Hz monitor if you aren't able to even reach high up above 60 FPS. But if you can spend the extra bucks, I would recommend getting a 144 Hz monitor. After all I have said, if you can only spend 200 or lower, get this monitor.

If you have any questions, just ask.

an opinion cannot be "wrong". the definition of an opinion entails that everyone has their own. exactly why i stated: "i would never go" but still linked the OP to <$200 displays of lesser size and quality than i would purchase.
how many other displays have you had over these years to compare this little thing to? unless you've been through quite a few then you have no basis to compare what would be better for the user or anyone or what they may enjoy more.
but, this isn't about us. this is about what is the best deal for the money for the OP. and more screen real-estate with better response times and better refresh rates would always be better.

@ ToxicKarKar,
i would never limit myself to any one persons opinion, especially for a purchase like this. i would recommend you go through the page linked and check out the highest rated displays listed there. then do web searches of them to see what better prices may be available for any you decide upon.
usually comes down to Newegg or Amazon for the cheapest prices on new products in the US.

First of all, not all of what you stated were not opinions. You were stating facts from looking at the monitor online. That;s why I said you were wrong for some parts. And yes, I have been through a few monitors the last 5 years. I have had this one for 2 ( 2 total, one on main and second PC0 and for his budget, it's really good.

"not all of what you stated were not opinions" okay? let's just pretend that makes sense:

so, the fact that over half of the reviews i found about this monitor are not getting even 4 out of 5 stars doesn't mean "mediocre reviews"? most were 3 out of 5. what does it mean then?
and 24" is "small". therefore those are not opinions, you are correct they are facts.

the opinions are what i stated about screen specs that are listed after the phrase "i would never go below". which does imply they are my personal opinions.

Ok, I understand what you are saying. That's what I meant by not all of them are facts. Some were opinions.

i dont know what kind of reviews were available at the time you commented.. but now the Asus VC239h seems to be liked by reviewers for the quality being offered at the current prices... so seems like its a good budget monitor for now.. another budget ips monitor with good reviews is Acer R240hy.. The cheapest ips monitor recommended was viewsonic VX2363smhl..
