Can someone explain to me why I can't find a VGA adapter to DVI-D?

I got a refurbished GPU (R9 290) recently and I had to remove one of my monitors to use this card because the connections on the card are "HDMI, DVI-D, DIsplay Port" and my second monitor uses VGA. I have an adapter for Male DVI-I to F/M VGA adapter I used for my old card but I have the wrong adapter for the DVI. I can't find the proper adapter for my card for F/M VGA to Male DVI-D (that people report working and not a fake) anywhere on ebay, newegg or amazon and only having one monitor is messing up my work flow. Does this adapter even exist or do I have to shovel out cash to have two monitors?
