Upgrading CPU Cooler

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a new cooler for my CPU, but I am unsure of what would be good for me.

I have:
- CM 690 II case
- i7-3770k @ 3,5 Ghz (intent to OC)
- Asus P8H77-V LE motherboard

I'm open to both air and liquid cooling. Budget isn't really an issue as I'd prefer good quality.

The NZXT should fit.

Is your goal a normal or a very high overclock? That determines the cooling requirements. A 147mm high Cryorig H7 allows overclocking, but it can't match the much larger NH D15.

It would be my first time giving overclocking a go, so I don't think I should go that extreme yet. Still looking into forums and articles for more information and tips.

Bear in mind that an i7-3770K only has a 77W TDP; therefore you don't need a very powerful cooler to achieve a good overclcok. http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/core-i7-3770k-and-3750-review-with-z77,13.html They used a Noctua D12. I had very good luck with the 3770K and 3570K CPUs with the then standard bearer the Hyper 212 EVO, ran my 3570K easily at 4.7, the H7 from Cryorig is another very good model

The H7 is not as tall and slightly better than the 212 Evo and it clears the RAM.

They both have adjustable fan heights to clear DRAM, I ran Trident X under my 212 with the 3570K and had RJ X under another on my 2500K rig when I had them. The H7 is slightly shorter. Cooling wise about the same +/- a few degrees. I've played with both on 1155 rigs, 1150 rigs, AM3+ and have been playing with a half dozen coolers on my Skylake rig

There's no clearance in the OP's case to move the fan up.

The case is 8.4" wide, the EVO only needs a 7.5 inch wide case, the H7 less. Should be OK unless having an input fan in the upper grate of the door panel which wouldn't be needed
