screen goes black they toggling on/off switch several times the monitor comes on and stays. what can this be?

my monitor goes black after it sits idle. Then I have to toggle the on/off switch on monitor to get it to stay on. Is this the monitor or a card problem in the CPU?

It could be your graphics card overheating, check the temperature of it.
Or it can be due to some ram problem, try to take the dims off and cleaning the contacts with some white rubber and alcohol and putting them back in.

Control panel what settings do you have for it ? It may shut off after a certain amount of time like in sleep mode ...
