Before you ask certain questions, bare these points in mind:

- I haven't got a HDD with the build as I plan to buy one 1 or 2 months in to minimise initial costs, I'll load the OS onto the SSD and go from there.

- The same with the RAM, I'll purchase another 8GB stick about 1 or 2 months down the line.

- One of the queries I have is whether the motherboard is a good choice at such a cheap price for a Z97 or if I should be spending a bit more on it for over-clocking and longevity.

Yeah I agree, since I posted this I've considered spending more money on a motherboard and I've decided I'll spend around £100 on one just to make sure the overclocking potential should be good enough. I've been considering the MSI Gaming 5 or the Asus Z-97, but then I just keep finding lots of other options and there are just too many to choose out of :??:
