Dell XPS 410 upgrade - Geforce 730 or 750?

My Dell XPS is a bone stock 410 with a dying GeForce 8600GS 256. Yeah, I know ;) The stock 375 PSU is known to be under rated, so I think I am good with running either card. The 8600 is quite a power monger and there is a 6 pin connector helping it along and looking at the specs for the new cards I think I am good.

From what I have read here the 750ti will work okay in the 410 with no issues and if it works I am sure the 730 will be fine too. I know the 750 kicks the 730 in performance and is a much better card but for my configuration is it worth spending the extra $? A 730 is about $70 and 750 about $120. I know that the MB and processor will hold back much of the performance of a newer card, but still curious what others think. As you can tell I don't upgrade much so whatever I get I should get my moneys worth.

I plan on keeping the computer for a little while longer. If the time comes for a major upgrade I might just take the 750 out and take it to a new build. I do not game too much but I do enjoy racing and flying sims. The older ones I have barely run with the 8600 and that might be keeping me from getting newer games.

So, if you were in the drivers seat, would getting a cheaper 730 be the best route or would the 750 path be better? Pros or Cons I have not thought of?

Probably not the best thing to upgrade to a 750. The 730 is sorely lacking too. If your budget is $120 i suggest the 750ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500349&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Video+Card+-+Nvidia-_-N82E16814500349&gclid=Cj0KEQiAn8i0BRDur-HV1PCTy4UBEiQAPuFr9EVCNtIjNBYfThsxrQCnc7_WyG_mUl5UpIev9Rr03CEaAsZi8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

What flying sims do you play? I believe with a 750ti you can even play WarThunder on medium to high settings.

Sorry, I meant the TI version of the 750. Most games are older so I know they will get a huge boost from anything I put in there. I just wanted some feedback and know if it was truly going to work with the old Dell system.

Thanks

If you're talking about compatibility then yes they will work. If you're asking whether you should do it then that is a personal decision really.

If you plan on moving the card to another system, try to get something a bit better than the 750Ti, maybe a 950 for about $200. If you change the computer in a year or two, the 750 Ti will be OK, but it will limit you a bit in resolution and quality in several years of game engine upgrades. The GTX 950 will use more power but should still run easily on the XPS power supply. Full system power in tests with it were a bit over 200 watts total.
