My first bulid, I want to focus on future proofing/upgradability. How is this build? Is thunderbolt 3 a good idea?

I'm buliding my first pc. My plan is to do the main theme and design the way I want, and then keep a budget on the processor and graphics card.

The main reason for this is all the speculation on the pascal graphics cards. They are supposedly a big leap over maxwell. I'm new to this so I don't know.

I sold my retina iMac for this bulid so I can afford a pretty nice build, but I'd Literally be sick if i a build a 980ti sli PC, and then in a few months a single card that beats it is released.

Here is the build I'm thinking, and then upgrade the cpu and gpu later. And since I'm trying to future proof, is a motherboard with thunderbolt 3 a good idea? I'd. Also like being able to possibly run a m.2 Samsung 950 pro and sli cards. I'm unsure what motherboard would be good for all this.

Thunderbolt might be good. But im not suggesting it, since it kinda pricey (for me)
