external monitor switches on & off after win10 upgrade on Sony Vaio SVP 13

I upgraded my Sony Vaio Pro 13 (SVP132190X) laptop from 8.1 to windows 10. Now when I use the HDMI dongle to attach an external monitor (VGA connection) the monitor randomly switches off for a few seconds and then switches back on, this occurs as often as a couple of times a minute. I have tried two different monitors and two different cables - no difference. This worked fine prior to the Win10 upgrade. I have checked and the video driver is up to date.

any help greatly appreciated.

Sometimes the most updated drivers are not compatible with the older devices.

That being said, can you please try installing an older version of the video driver and then try using the external monitor to see if it works fine.
