My gaming monitor displays dark spots on the screen when I have the monitor stand screwed in

I have a ASUS monitor (VG248QE) that I had on a dual monitor stand, I recently hooked the monitor back onto the stand (which I might been using the dual monitor nuts) . I noticed some water-like black spots all over the screen, however when I took the stand off. It went away completely... is it because the LCD screen is so sensitive or what? I was worried about water damage at first, but it didn't look like it.

bit weird but sounds like you might be over tightening something
