New Mobo and CPU, do I need fresh install of windows

I am going from an AMD a88x platform to a Z170 platform.
I am not sure what I have to do regarding to Windows installation. There has been mixed answers to weather I need a fresh install or can just uninstall some drivers and procede.

No harm in trying but I have tried it a few times and it never worked.
Consensus on this forum is that you will need to re-install windows and everything else from scratch

Yeah, fresh install is best. This way you're avoiding most of the hassle.

The reason it doesnt work is because your new mbod is using a newer chipset. And, your old version of Windows is using an older chipset with different drivers. If you are able to go into the new install and edit the drivers, you can make it work. I agree with the others in here that its best to start fresh with a new copy of Windows.
