Daisy Chain DisplayPort or DisplayPort Splitter?

In my current rig I have a single R9 290. I currently use two monitors that have VGA or DVI-D support only. I notice there are a lot of products on the market that allow for me to attach dual-dvid monitors to an adapter and use the display port on my video card. The issue is I cannot decide on a product as a lot seem hit or miss and I don't want to mirror my desktop, I want to extend it.

Would I be better off getting a DVI-D to DVI-D to daisy chain the monitors and then VGA to DisplayPort Adapter for 1 monitor to the computer?

Otherwise I was thinking of getting two DVI-D to DisplayPort cables and purchasing a MST hub.

Thanks,

Are you sure your monitors fully support DVD-D. usually you get DVI-I and VGA since they are both analog or you get DVI-D and HDMI and/or Displayport since they are all digital.
