Greetings All,

I just built a new desktop computer, and I am in need of a new gaming monitor. However, I have a few specifications that I'd like it to have. I have also searched google for many hours today but to no avail. There are so many good monitors out there but nothing that comes close to what I am looking for in the end. Perhaps it could be I am looking in the wrong places?

In any case my question is in the title, I would be eternally grateful if you could recommend me some great gaming monitors that I could order online. My price range is anything below $500 I suppose. Thank you in advance for the assistance!

    1080p
No less than 100Hz (The more the better?)
    1920x1080
    Screen (Gloss-type)

Oh if it matters my current video card is a GTX960.

Greetings.

Scrap the 1-2ms demand, it is a marketing scam to promote TN monitors. Unfortunately, you cannot combine 144Hz with glossy monitors, there is no monitor like this. You have to choose between them.

That being said, there are some good choices.

One is the HP 25xw. 60Hz, but overclocks to 75Hz. Excellent image quality thanks to its superior IPS panel with its glossy coating. Excellent overdrive too for minimal ghosting.

If you would rather have 144Hz and G-Sync, check the AOC G2460PG. TN panel with matte coating so inferior image quality.

Finally, check the Acer XB270HU too. It is a 27" 144Hz AHVA 1440p monitor with G-Sync. It...

Its downsides are that it is expensive, it has a semi-glossy (light matte) coating and not a glossy one for matching the vibrant colors of the HP and the 1440p will demand a gpu change in the immediate future most probably. Still, it is much better than the AOC in every way.

Thank you for the very direct response. It's very much appreciated, you didn't skip one detail. So after careful thought in regards to how far I wish to push myself in terms of gaming I have done the unthinkable and decided to go ahead with the matte finish instead.

After another few hours of research I have come down to two monitors, which are the;

and the

Or perhaps there is something better? In terms of what I am looking for? Thank you in advance for the assistance!

Ypu are welcome. Do not buy either, benQ is a 60Hz TN monitor so there is no point in buying it, the Asus uses PWM dimming which ruins motion and causes health issues like eystrain, it also has terrible image with lightboost activated. If you want a cheap 144Hz monitor, buy the LG 24GM77, which has decent colors and contrast for a TN panel, it is flicker free and also has an effective back-light strobbing.

If you find the LG too expensive, then forget about 144Hz monitors and just buy the HP 25xw.

Wow you really saved me. I just looked into that and there are so many cases relating to the eye straining caused by the Asus. While I do prefer the first LG I am not entirely looking to get a cheap monitor or shooting for an expensive one either. I just want something that I can get the most bang for my buck.

I stumbled upon this one a few minutes ago as well... What say you?

The LG you mention is the one I mentioned too, so of course I approve it. Comparing it with the AOC G2460PG, the LG has a bit better color presets and contrast, but it lacks G-Sync. This means that is a bit better than the AOC for general use, but worse for gaming. Both are good monitors though, with LG being cheaper. Take your pick.
