World at War connection issue

hi, so my friend and i are trying to play custom zombies on world at war PC. no matter what we try we cannot join eachothers lobbies but when we search the public servers we can join those. everytime he tries to join my game it says "game session no longer avaliable" what can we do so that we can play together?? any help is really appreciated!

sadly that doesnt work. does anyone know the ports that need to be opened? i heard that fixes it

try turning windows firewall off temporarily
