When upgrading to windows 10 from windows 7, it takes me to the windows update screeen and does nothing

It says "downloading windows 10"and i get the icon scrolling but then it just takes me to the windows update screen that shows me my current updates are up to date. I've tried this over a dozen times now, even going as far as disabling my windows firewall and ms essentials....still nothing. I've installed the updates that were optional as well as the required ones but it still will not launch. Downloaded the windows 10 update.exe from microsoft directly and it does the same thing as the one in the taskbar. What else should I do? Maybe it's a sign I just keep 7 (ultimate btw) for a much longer time. Please help

I found some problems doing it that way myself, on two pcs. The way I solved it was to install the media creation tool on a usb drive and boot from that in bios. Seems to be a pretty consistent way of doing it, although it takes some time to install on the usb.

Yep, that worked! Didn't even need to install to usb. Thank you for quick reply and resolution!!
