RAM or motherboard issue? New RAM sometimes works

Hi guys, I recently put in another 4 gb stick of ram, same as my other two 4gb sticks to give a total of 12gb. And sometimes it gives me the RAM beep code. If I boot the computer with the 8gb ram, then turn it off and install the new ram, it will boot correctly. But it randomly will start beeping at boot again and I have to do it all over.

The sound card doesn't work on the motherboard either.

Could it be a motherboard issue or is there something I could do to make the RAM work without the hassle?

Ram should be in matched pairs. Mismatched ram can cause issues. If your sound isn't working, and you are sure that speakers are good, and the drivers, for audio are installed, then motherboard could be going bad.

On the DRAM try raising the DRAM voltage + 0.05 and see if that smooths it out. On the sounds card, do have onboard sound disabled? Latest drivers for the card? Do you have latest BIOS and mobo drivers? What CPU, mobo, sound card and model #s of the DRAM?
