Many apologies if this is in the wrong place.

So about 2 weeks ago my 360 controller (on PC, windows 10) started cutting out randomly, and then about a week ago it stopped working entirely. After looking around a bit it seemed that it shouldn't be a driver issue since its included and updated on windows 10 automatically. So I assumed it was broken and bought a new one.

New one arrived a few hours ago and I get the same problem.

After plugging in the green light flashes for a second then stops and I get the "USB device not recognized" popup. I've tried updating the driver but its near impossible to get hold of online by the looks of it. And noone else seems to have the same problem, on windows 10 at least.

Thanks for helping!

Hi,

According to Microsoft support site it should just be plug and play no need to install any drivers. Please do try these troubleshooting steps suggested by them.
- First is to try and connect your controller onto a different USB port on your PC.
- If it doesn't work run Windows Update and install all updates available.
- Next is to configure your controller.
- Here's the link for the complete guide: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-controller-for-windows-setup#c2abc043c7d44374b92752a3fa952769
- Here's another guide for configuring it: (use the on for Windows 8)

This is my device manager section. With show hidden enabled. There was an xbox 360 peripherals tab but I uninstalled it when someone said it might fix it, but then windows 10 never reinstalled it. So I guess my PC doesnt recognize the controller as a controller.
