75 Hz on 60 hz monitor?

I have an old TN monitor that has a native resolution that runs at 60 Hz but I can make it work at 75 Hz using the NVIDIA display panel options. Is that applicable to all new TN/IPS monitors that state that they are capable of producing up to 75 hz of vertical refresh rate?

There is this LG monitor that says it works at 60 Hz 1080p but if you look at its vertical refresh rate, it says that it can reach 75 hz. Can I make it reach 75 hz using the NVIDIA panel?

You can get it to run at 75Hz but it will decrease your resolution. You can't run it at 1080p.

That monitor is good for all around use as it is a IPS panel. Only downside is that if you want it for fps gaming it'll be slow. But if that isn't the use, this is a decent panel.

You can get a 1080p 60Hz IPS panel monitor for $140usd. If you want higher Hz then you would get a 144Hz monitor. And those are usually TN panels and cost $250. If you want IPS and higher than 60Hz you'd spend around $600-800.

60Hz is gonna give 60fps in games and it is fast enough. I'd suggest sticking with that.
