Question about PC gaming on a TV and refresh rates...

So im planning to buy myself a nice 55" TV for my room to hook up to my PC so I can essentially have a PC at my desk for general use and a large TV behind me for movies and games.
anyway, the 2 TVs im deciding between, one has a 100HZ "motion rate" and the other has a 300HZ "motion rate". So my question is, supposing I pick the 300HZ tv, will I theoretically be able to play games at 300fps? not that I want 300fps or that my system can even handle it im just wondering. Same question for the 100HZ TV BTW.

most likely no. tv manufacturers like to throw out all those fancy terms that are very misleading and do not reflect the actual refresh rate.

without knowing the models you're looking at, i cant tell you exactly what they are, but a quick google brought me to here...

most likely the panels are 60hz panels, maybe MAYBE 120hz at 1080 if they're a higher end model.
