Laptop Works on with external HDMI plugged in. (Laptop screen will then work)

Asus g75vw will only work when plugged in with hdmi. The laptop will then work along with the screen. Can unplug the HDMI after it boots to windows and use the laptop accordingly. Super strange and was wondering if anyone knows a fix for this.

there are shortcut buttons button in order to change video output. ensure laptops screen is selected. usually fn(function) + key

The function keys I don't think will work for this. The laptop before you even start it with the power button, needs to plugged with the HDMI. Otherwise it just sits idle and the laptop will turn on but only flash the on board key lighting and stop. If the HDMI is plugged in the laptop boots as normal and im able to unplugg it and the laptop will work with its own screen and everything
