I recently bought a monitor (Dell P2416D). It's an 1440 x 2560 IPS display.
These are the signal inputs of the monitor:

• Analog RGB, 0.7 Volts +/- 5%, positive polarity at
75 ohm input impedance
• HDMI 1.4*, 600mV for each differential line, 100
ohm input impedance per differential pair
• DisplayPort 1.2**, 600mV for each differential line,
100 ohm input impedance per differential pair

Ive got an AMD radeon hd6870 gpu.
these are signal inputs of my gpu:
It does support displayport 1.2, hdmi, vga and dvi am I right?

What is the best cable i can use for this 1440p display?

thats a great 2k monitor!! from the inputs your monitor has , only DP is 2k(1440p) capable so thats your only option. for the record dvi d dual link your gpu has is also 2k capable however would require an adapter to utilise it, with your monitor, which isnt recommended. im sure DELL already provides the necessary DP cable! ;)

Well. I didnt get any displayport with my monitor:/. So i bought a displayport 1.2. wich does fit in my monitor, but not in my graphicscard. Did I actually bought the wrong one :(. I gues I will need a mini displayport 1.2.
Does it sill will provide 2k resolution?
Thanks for your help :)

dp to mini dp cable is what you need. it will work just fine. you are welcome.
