1280x720 Vs 1920x1080

So i got this gpu -->Amd R7 260X OC 1GB and at this moment i am running my desktop at 1280x720p... My monitor can handle up to 1920x1080 , so i was wandering if i set to this resolution will my gpu have more pressure or something ?

setting it to 1080p will require more power, but will make the image sharper. So to answer your question, yes in games you'd be stressing your gpu more. But for normal desktop use you'd be fine
